Van Run Club does a month run challenge, where members pick a distance or time goal for themselves to run by the end of the month. Speed only matter that you may get to your distance faster, but the main intention is to get people in our community active. Especially in social distancing times.
Here are some of the stats from the first month:
6 people (including myself)
5 Local Runners, 1 Non-Local Runner
Goals set - 485K | Kilometers Run - 579K
Individual goals ranged from 30K-200K for January
Everyone hit or exceeded their goal
In a post challenge survey everyone said they:
Were happy they participated
Would consider doing it again
Would recommend the challenge to others
We're doing another challenge in March. The intention is to get you out and be active. It doesn't need to be a huge goal, just something more than you'd do normally.
When participants were asked about what they liked about the challenge they said it was:
Motivating
Supportive
A fun way to stay active
Great group energy
Increased accountability
They all said they would recommend the challenge and would tell others that:
It's a great way to start a good habit
All the goals are personally set, there is not pressure to exceed your limits unless you want to
You won't regret it, everyone hates running, but this group and challenge makes it fun and social (while being abiding COVID rules)
